Aufgabe

The Satellite Networks department at DLR’s Institute of Communications and Navigation plays since many years a leading role in Europe in the conception and investigation of novel system concepts, transmission techniques, protocols and applications for Satellite Communications. Its Optical Communications Group develops a transmission system for the optical data links between optical ground station and geostationary satellite. It is vital to increase the spectral efficiency of the system to increase the throughput using the limited available bandwidth. The selected applicant will support our team in building and testing a spectrally efficient communication system in the lab.

Your Tasks:

  • characterization of the hardware components
  • integration and testing of the complete transmission setup
  • verification of the results with the known theory

Anforderung

  • student of Electrical Engineering, Optics and Photonics or similar
  • experience in working with transmission systems including transmitters, receivers and measurement devices (Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer etc)
  • knowledge of MATLAB/C/C++ Programming
  • interest in free space optical communications
