Current Research: Relay assited MIMO Communication System

Relay assisted MIMO communications system is generally complex to design as it involves multiple paths for the signal to reach to the destination and there can be different modes of operation for each channel.

When a transmitter sends data, if the data is not correct or it gets lost on the way to reciever, transmitter sometimes has to send this data repeatedly. This is done through Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ). To optimize the relaying communication efficient protocols for ARQ can be designed combined with appropriate link adaptation techinques. For this purpose several different approaches are possible, such as end-to-end ARQ , hop-to-hop ARQ or combination of both. Cooperative diversity system's investigation in this regard can be helpful to avoid sending an ARQ, as these systems are able to exploit spatial diversity and benefits of conventional MIMO systems can be comibned with cooperative diversity systems to attain the better performance.
