Subject

Energy efficiency is a crucial aspect of the next generation of mobile communications, 6G. Already today, the radio unit accounts for a major share of the total energy consumption of a radio access network. With the use of ever larger massive MIMO systems, this portion increases significantly if present designs are used due to the growing number of transmission chains and the subsequent increase in processing requirements. Therefore, new algorithms have to be researched in order to reduce the energy consumption of future massive MIMO units.

Keywords:

  • MIMO
  • Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) reduction
  • Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD)
